If you live in Melbourne and can get to the Northcote public library at four p.m. this Wednesday December 7th, Michael Pryor's new book, Extinction Gambit, Volume 1 of a series called The Extraordinaires, is being launched.
I won't be there, alas! I work in Sunshine and can't get away much before 3.30 p.m. I did buy a copy at the last CYL Booktalkers for the month and get the author to sign it for me, but there's nothing like a good book launch!
It's a pity it was timed this way; if they'd done it a bit later, plenty of people could have made it - and on another day, the Nova Mob SF group which meets there every month, could have come as a group. As it happens, that's been planned as the annual end-of-year dinner, somewhere else. But a later time on that day and some of us, at least, could have scrambled into each other's cars and gone to the launch first.
Ah, well. Go if you can, though - it will be well worth the effort!
