Free Ebooks From This Site

If you take a look at the side of this page, among all the links to my reviewing policy and such, you'll find some things I've ebooked for you and put on Dropbox. I don't know how long it has been since anyone downloaded any of them - it's too easy not to notice stuff on the side - but there's some good stuff there. There are free samples from two of my books. There are some of my published stories. There is a book of interviews with the likes of Juliet Marillier and Marianne De Pierres, Charlie Higson and Mark Walden and Melbourne writer Gabrielle Wang and CBCA judges Tehani Wessely and Miffy Farqharson. There's a little book of student writing so you know what good stuff is happening in the western suburbs of Melbourne.

Help yourself! And do let me know what you think.

Thanks for your generosity, Sue. I confess that i'm yet to buy an e-reader.
Is it an essential tool in the writer's kit, do you think?

Hi Doug! Essential perhaps not, but convenient, especially when doing research. You read about a book that has something you're looking up for your own latest WIP and you don't have to go hunting for it in the bookshops, you can just download it right away. And you can carry it with you without any danger to your shoulder. ;-) for example, when I was researching for my story about Dr James Barry, I discovered a very useful tome called Wild Women. And it has other stories I might use later and I can carry it around on my trusty iPad. In fact, for a writer like yourself, I do recommend a tablet computer like the iPad rather than an ebook reader - you can write on it, look up stuff on the Internet and download books. It's like acing a whole writing kit in your pocket, without the inconvenience of a laptop which you can certainly carry, but it's heavy and you're limited to PDF. BTW, if you're interested in any of my little ebooks, email me and I'll send you a PDF of them.
