Okay, after holding off for a long time, I'm now on Twitter. It seems to be the simplest way to get information out to the most people. If you'd like to follow me on Twitter, my name there is SueBursztynski. I'm still trying to work it out.
***Currently listening to ABC radio. They're discussing bande dessinee (graphic novels). Great! Mike Shuttleworth talked about it at a Nova Mob meeting. He went to Belgium on a Churchill Fellowship to attend the festival.
And five minutes after joining I got at least one, potentially two spam "followers", one of them connected to porn. I suppose I'll have to go for the option where you have to approve followers.
ReplyDeleteI now seem to have eight "followers" , only about three of whom are genuine and not advertising.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Sorry, I just had to laugh at the absurdity of the internet sometimes. I have been tossing up getting a twitter account as well. It makes my head hurt to think of maintaining yet another social media thingy but I suppose it's got to be done for exposure purposes. When I get it I shall follow you :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree about the social media thingie. But as you say, you need to get the exposure - or, anyway, the more followers you have, the easier it is to let them know what's happening. You can use it to let people know when you'v updated your blog, or when your new book is about to come out ("Please! Go and buy my book! Please?" A lot of publishers and agents are up there too, so you know when something is happening there. It's amazing who IS up there. Neil Gaiman decorating his Christmas tree with a TARDIS. Stephen Fry linking you to his "modest proposal" which took about five pages and I *think* proposed renaming the Elgin marbles the Hitchens Marbles. I think.
ReplyDeleteGo join. We'll follow each other. Careful of the spammers.
